After running install.pl I get an error:
" The path was found. However, Add2it Mailman Free was unable to create files in the directory"
I think it is due to the fact that my server just gives me 3 "special folder": a cgi-bin - which can execute and read but doesn't allow writing - a public one - just for writing - and a database folder; they allow me to create special folders just as subfolders of theese which hereditate all their permissions; yet they don't let me change permissions.
I put all in a subfolder of my cgi-bin and i think it stopped because your program tried to write in this folder; is there something I can do?
thank you
Paolo

Hello Paolo,

Yes, I would recommend to contact your web hosts technical support staff and ask them to allow scripts in your cgi-bin or subfolders to write into other files and create new files in it's subdirectories.
Sincerely,

Thanks;
unfortunately my scripts can write everywhere, but NOT in cgi-bin or in its subdiresctories... and (my server say) this can't be changed.
The data directory is in a subfolder of cgi-bin I suppose... I also suppose it would be a too strong work to change the structure... Is this true?

Paolo

Hello Paolo,

Yes, the data directory is a subdirectory of the location at which the script files are located.

This is the first case I heard about where the web host can (or doesn't want to) allow this.

Well, if you like, you can hire me to reprogram the script especially for your web host.

I could program a customized version for you in 45 to 60 minutes.

If you like, please use the services order form at:

Sincerely,

Frank Bauer
