I created a new folder called "go" like it said in the read me script, on my ftp server and uploaded everything, all went well, but then it tells says "Open your browser and call install.pl to install the rest of the script. Depending on where the new directory is located the path could be i.e.: http://www.yourserver.com/cgibin/go/install.pl or
http://www.yourserver.com/go/install.pl

now i have try`d both and inplace of "www.your server.com" I have put everything in from ftp.pwp etc to www.blueyonder.co.uk to my webpage address,

now i haven`t got a clue about perl & cgi bin, I need help but try not to get too technical LOL,
thanks in advance
Diane

Hello Diane,

If you uploaded all the files into the cgi-bin/go directory, then the install.pl file should be located at:

http://www.ds33uk.myby.co.uk/cgi-bin/go/install.pl

I checked there, but got an 404 error (page not found).

In which directory did you upload all the files?

Sincerely,

Frank Bauer

Hi Frank,

This is where i get lost (first web site lol), The isp tech support said i upload to /htdocs I do have 2 main ones the first is "\" then when i click on that i get the \htdocs with all my pages in, i created a "go" folder in the \htdocs file
at first i uploaded the whole gtf to the go folder but there was nothing in it, but it won`t let me delete the go folder, so i opened the go folder & uploaded the 21 files that it says, thats where i`m upto now oh the .htaccess one doesn`t show up like the others when i upload is that right?

thanks

Diane

Hello Diane,

The files that start with a . are by default hidden. If you want to see them, you need to switch that feature on in your FTP program.

Because of that hidden file you also had not been able to delete that directory. You can only delete completely empty directories.

Are all files now uploaded to the htdocs/go directory?

I tried http://www.ds33uk.myby.co.uk/go/install.pl, but got an 404 error (page not found).

Please check again in your FTP program... in which directory did you upload all files?

Sincerely,

Frank Bauer

BTW: Did I mention you can order an installation service for 29 Euro / US $? ;)

If you like you can order it at:
http://www.add2it.com/services/order.shtml

Hi Frank,

It`s getting depressing now lol, I can`t find where to switch so as to see the "." files on cute ftp, and my isp said "we give u the webspace now ur on ur own" (great no? lol)
I have even just created a "go" folder in the main "\" one and uploaded again but still nothing
so the files are in " /htdocs/GO " i don`t know what to do now, and no i don`t have a visa or that would have been my first choice lol sorry
any other options?

sorry for the trouble

Diane

Hello Diane,

Ok, now I found it... it is at:

http://www.ds33uk.myby.co.uk/GO/install.pl

But, the script does not get executed properly right now.

Did you also upload the .htaccess file? If you didn't, please upload it now.

It might also be that you will need to upload everything into your cgi-bin directory.

Sincerely,

Frank Bauer

Hello Diane,

Please check now if you uploaded the .htaccess file into the GO directory. If you didn't, please upload it there now.

Did you check that?
Sincerely,

Frank Bauer

Hello Diane,

The cgi-bin directory is ususally the directory on a web server that contains the Perl scripts that you use.

Otherwise it simply a directory as any other on any computer.

At the URL you mentioned above you get a "404 Not Found" error. That shows that the Add2it Go-To Free files are not located at that URL.

In which directory on your web server did you upload the files?

When I checked at http://www.ds33uk.myby.co.uk/GO/install.pl I noticed that the install.pl file is still localized there.

Please check again if you uploaded the script files already into the cgi-bin directory. It is also possible that you have the original cgi-bin directory somewhere else on your server.

If you are not sure, please ask your web hosts technical support staff about this.

Merry Christmas.
Sincerely,

Frank Bauer

Hello Diane,

No problem.

If you are interested, in a great web host that supports all features, please check out:
http://www.add2it.com/go/to.pl?l=host4profit

If you need a free web host that allows your own cgi-bin (scripts), then take a look at:
http://www.million-mall.com/free.shtml
Sincerely,

Frank Bauer
