This is the error message that I am getting:The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. I have changed permissions to 775 (or 421 the numerical definition). I have made sure that all files were transfered ASCII, changed all settings to assure that the files read http://www.internetempirebuilders.com/cgi-bin/mmf/nameoffile.cgi. I am very new to cgi and perl and I am unsure what to do next. Please help. Thank you, Dianna Sandora |

Hello Dianna, Did you check if the path to Perl is correct? The standard path in my scripts is #!/usr/bin/perl. If you are not sure if that is the path to Perl on your server, please contact your hosts technical support staff or check your hosts online manual (if available). I also noticed that you posted your question in the Add2it Go-To Free Support area, but wrote down a path to a copy of Add2it Mailman Free (mmf). Which software are you having a problem with? Sincerly, Frank Bauer |

Hello Dianna, Ok, I moved this conersation into the Add2it Mailman Free Support board. You mentioned first that you "changed all settings to assure that the files read http://www.internetempirebuilders.com/cgi-bin/mmf/nameoffile.cgi". I am not sure what you are referring to in this regard. You don't need to edit any file that you uncompressed from the mmf161.zip file. Please upload all files from the mmf161.zip file again in ASCII mode to http://www.internetempirebuilders.com/cgi-bin/mmf/ and change the permission on the install.cgi file as well as the http://www.internetempirebuilders.com/cgi-bin/mmf/ directory to CHMOD 755. Now call http://www.internetempirebuilders.com/cgi-bin/mmf/install.cgi in your browser. If the path to perl is correct and you don't change the files, upload all files in ASCII mode and change the permissions as described above, you shouldn't get "Internal 500 error" anymore. Sincerely, Frank Bauer |

Ok, I am still getting the following error message: Internal Server Error 500 The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. I did what you told me to do: 1)I downloaded the program again 2)made sure that it was ASCII mode 3)Checked to make sure that the path is correct 4)Change permissions to chmod 755 5)Bring url{http://www.internetempirebuilders.com/cgi-bin/mmf/install.cgi up in my browser, and still getting the internal server error. What am I doing wrong? Please help |

Hello Dianna, Can you please check your servers cgi error log file to see the excact error message it gives? Depending on how your server is set up you might have to ask your hosts technical support staff. Or if you prefer I can take a quick look at your installation. All I need is your permission, FTP username, password and URL to your server. But, please do NOT post them here... instead email them to me. Sincerely, Frank Bauer |
