Hi Frank, I'm trying to setup mailman free and getting a problem. When i try to subscribe to my list i get the following message: "Add2it Mailman Free - ERROR InvalidRecipient:550 not local host , not a gateway Maybe you don't have access to this mail server or maybe the recipient email address is an invalid email address. To try to skip over the email address, click here. I have tried other email addresses too that have not been subscribed previously with the same result. Although on the list logs the email has been subscribed, with no confirmation emails at all. (According to my hosts support pages /usr/bin/sendmail is correct). Your advice please. Many thanks. |

Hello Peter, Please check the admin email address you entered in the "Script Settings" section. Is it an email address from the domain the script is installed at? Sincerely, Frank Bauer |

Yes its peter@dynamiq.co.uk, although i dont pick it up from the server direct, its forwarded to another email account. Other emails i've tried are directly picked up from their respective servers though. Hope this is useful. Thanks. |

Hello Peter, If you are using Sendmail, please make sure that the SMTP server and port fields in the "Script Settings" section are empty. If there is anything in them then the script will try to use the SMTP server instead of Sendmail. Sincerley, Frank Bauer |

Hi Frank. Thanks for your response. Emptied the smtp server and port fields as requested. It works. Thank you. I sent a test message to my list. The text didnt wrap. I see from a previous post (144 Saturday, October 20, 2001 - 10:07 pm) that you suggest changing wrap to "on" in the admin.cgi file. Should i do this? Exactly how do i edit a .cgi file. Is it the same as editing the config.dat via ftp and notepad? Thanks again. |

Hello Peter, Yes, just make sure you change only that one line and that you upload it is ASCII mode. Sincerely, Frank Bauer |

Just changed the "VIRTUAL" to "ON" in the admin.cgi file: It did not make the text wrap in the message received by the subscribers though unfortunately. The only thing to mention is that i had to use ms word because the file was too big for notepad. Would that cause a problem? Thanks. |

Hello Peter, I checked the file you emailed me and you changed it correctly. Can you maybe add my email address (support @ add2it.com -> without the spaces around the @ character) to a test list and send and HTML message. Then please let me know how it wraps when you received it. BTW: Did you send an HTML message or regular text? Sincerely, Frank Bauer |

Hi Frank, I sent the message as html and text to myself and you as requested. I looked at my delivered copy and was in shock when i saw it. It wrapped perfectly. So after scratching my head: did it really not wrap before ? I checked, yes it did several times. I scratched my head some more...Then it hit me, the text body i entered in the test messages that wouldnt wrap were just a long stream of letters with no gaps. No words just a long stream of letters. I went back and did another test message with long streams of text ( you probably received a copy) and it didnt wrap. Thats why it didnt wrap, its seen as one continuous word by outlook express. What a fool i feel ! Though, I've learnt something new again today. Thanks for all your help. Regards, Peter Simmons. |
