I'm a guy who is looking to make some real money. Have tried many things over the years, but no real success yet, just "getting by" as we say in Maine. I get the sense that your offers are for real. My question is which business to start with as start costs are a big factor. I have home-based office with copier and scanner so was leaning towards publishing. I am not afraid of work but need to put my energies in a project that will work and make money. Your personality traits and self- confidence must be carefully explored before deciding to start any business. Do you have a great sense of independence? Are you determined to be the master of your destiny? Do you have confidence in your ability to make important decisions about your business? You must believe in your decisions and take the steps to achieve your goals. In determining which business is right for you, you'll want to consider the industry you have a passion for. Before you invest your money do a simple survey to see how much interest there is for your proposed venture. The most important thing to remember is "don't develop a need, fulfill a need." Next create a simple business plan, chart out how much money you'll need to get started. Some people have the miss-conception, "all that is necessary is to put up an 'Open for Business' sign and people will come flocking in." This is far from the truth. The most important ingredient to any business is marketing. The old saying "You can have the best mouse trap in the world, but if nobody knows about it, then you won't sell narry a one" is oh so true. This aspect of any business always takes time and energy. And is the reason many people aren't successful. For me, selling How-To-Information is the best business. In 1991 I first started selling books by placing ads in magazines. And since 1995 I've been able to cut my business costs dramatically and increase my profits by marketing my programs on the Internet. 30% to 35% of my sales are now generated from the net. And 40% to 45% of my profits are contributed by Internet marketing. All good things in life take time and effort. If you do your homework first, test your products, fine-tune your business, and most important keep forging forward, then you'll soon be making more money than you can ever imagine. Remember don't give up! Life is full of uncertainty and hazards. No longer is there a guarantee of job security with any company. Just because you have a job today is no assurance of a paycheck next week. True security is achieved by believing in your own abilities and you will become rich and successful. A fearful, unconfident, pessimistic person is sure to fail in any self-employment opportunity. Take your time and do your homework first. When you're ready, go full-steam ahead and build your financial empire. I recommend that you first start your business part-time and then grow it into a full-time venture. This will take the financial pressure off you and your family. Remember to test, test, test your products and marketing before you spend large sums of money. Not give up and you'll be successful. If you would have asked me this question 10 or 12 months ago, I would have said, "Absolutely not!" I would have said that advertising in the FREE online classifieds is futile at best. And I wouldn't have recommended to anyone that placing classifieds be one of their top priorities. I mean there are just so many Free Classified sites out there. And among those sites, there are just sooooooo many ads to look at and choose from. How could any one ad possibly sound more appealing than all the rest? And so, for those reasons I spent my time advertising in other ways. What I believed to be more productive ways. Now if you asked me that same question today, I would have a different answer. And that is, YES, you definitely DO need to spend time every week posting advertisements in the free classifieds! You see, now I take a different approach to the free classifieds. And it's a different approach that's working. If you would like to see better results from your upcoming classified ad campaign, I suggest you follow the 6 steps I have listed below. 1. Develop a compelling headline 2. Develop a compelling ad 3. Stay Organized 4. Be consistent 5. Track your ads performance 6. Evaluate Albeit, these steps may come as no surprise to you, they are pretty straight forward, and most likely you're seen them before, but the real secret lies in the explanation. Please read on! 1. Develop a compelling headline... I know, you've heard this time and time again. Compelling headline, compelling headline... But when it comes down to it, the million dollar question is, "What constitutes a 'compelling' headline?" To answer this question I could go into a long winded rendition of what I'm sure all of us have read time and time again, but I won't. Mainly because, in past, it hasn't worked for me. Instead I'll cut right to the chase and tell you 'exactly' what has worked for me. What has worked for me is a simple 4 letter word (no, not that one!) this one... F R E E ! ! ! Those 4 little letters are P O W E R F U L ! ! ! ! And by incorporating them into your headline, I'll guarantee you'll get more people reading your ad. So what you have to do is think about what it is that your target market or audience needs, and then offer it to them F R E E ! ! ! For example, I'm involved in Multi-Level Marketing, and to be effective in my industry I need to communicate with other Multi-Level Marketers (MLM'ers). So I thought to myself, "What does every MLM'er need?" And the answer to that question is, "Pre-Qualified MLM Leads." So, I give them away F R E E ! ! ! And this brings a steady supply of MLM'ers right to my front door. The headline that has worked best for me is, " * * * FREE Pre-Qualified MLM Leads * * * " And I have found that by using this style of headline (with the word F R E E in it), more people read my ad, and in turn more people end up at my website, which, really is the desired result. 2. Develop a compelling ad Now the 'ad' part of the equation is really just an extension of the headline, but in developing your ad keep in mind the A.I.D.A. principle. Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. I have also found that keeping it short works best for me. Here's what my entire ad would look like: Headline: * * * FREE Pre-Qualified MLM Leads * * * Ad body: F R E E Pre-Qualified MLM Leads Give Away! They're FRESH, they're HOT, and they're F R E E ! ! ! http://www.freedom2ooo.com/mlm/freeleads_giveaway.htm Sign up today!! They're going F A S T ! ! ! You see, I've kept it short, and to the point. And I've made it compelling for any MLMer to visit my site. So what ever your target market maybe, come up with some kind of a F R E E offer that you can advertise. Something that will bring your target audience in through your website's front door. Then once they're there, you capture their email address when they sign up for your offer. For example, if you sell webspace you might want to consider giving away 1MB of server space for free, or you might want to offer the first months service for free. If you are marketing a certain weight loss products you could give away free samples, along with a free report. There are just so many ideas. But the thing to keep in mind is F R E E ! ! ! 3. Stay organized Before you get going on your classifieds campaign you have to realize that in order to make it work, it is imperative that you get yourself organized and work out a schedule. No matter what it is you're offering for free, if you're not organized, you're wasting your time. What you need to do is work out a routine where you post to the same classified sites on a rotational basis. (Personally, I work on a 2 week cycle) By doing this you will keep yourself near the top of the listings. You see some classified sites just keep pushing the ads down as new ones are entered, and eventually the ones at the bottom get pushed off the list. Of course not all sites work like this, but a great many do. Here's what you need to do: Select 3 nights every week to post free classifieds. For example: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Monday you post your ad on 3-5 sites, then on Wednesday you do the same, and then again on Friday. The following week you do exactly the same thing, 3-5 different sites each posting day. So by the end of the 2nd week you have posted your ad to anywhere from 18 - 30 individual classifieds sites. Then for the next 2 weeks you go back and re-post the exact same ad to the exact same sites, repeating this same cycle every 2 weeks. As time passes you'll start to know which sites are actually working for you and which sites aren't. (more about this later) That way you can drop the ones that aren't performing and try out other sites instead. Over time, you will have built yourself a powerhouse of 20 - 30 classified sites that pull remarkably well for your target audience. A powerhouse that you can use over and over, FOR FREE! 4. Be consistent You can kiss this whole marketing strategy good bye if you aren't going to be consistent. In order to utilize the free classifieds effectively, and better yet, successfully, YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT!!! There are just no ifs, ands or buts about it! Anything less than consistent is a waste of your time. Plain and simple. You've got to do this systematically or it's not going to work. 5. Track your ads performance This is very important, and there are really 2 ways that you can do it. 1. You have your potential customers respond to an email address, and in doing so you ask them to type a certain word in the subject field of the email. For each ad you have a corresponding word that goes in the subject. That way you can track which classified sites are actually working and which aren't. Now as easy as this strategy is to implement it is not my favorite. And that is because it adds two extra steps to the equation. Instead of your potential customer going directly to your website, s/he must first send you an email, with the appropriate subject heading, and then wait for your response. In which time your once interested prospect may lose interest. One way around this is if you have access to unlimited autoresponders. Then you can set up 1 autoresponder per ad. This is a very viable alternative IF you have the autoresponders. If not, then... 2. Although this option requires a little more work, it is my preferred option. What I do is set up an individual webpage for each ad/classified site. That way the people that are interested in my offer can go directly to my webpage without any waiting around for an email response. Then after they get to my website, if they are interested in my F R E E offer, which they usually are (why not, it's F R E E) they sign up for it. Now some online marketers may argue that by not having them respond to an email address you lose the ability to follow up with ALL of the people who visit the website. (The ones that don't sign up for the free offer) And yes, I will agree that this is the case, but I also believe that a similar situation exists the email way. Interest is lost if you make people wait, and that's what happens with having them respond to an email address. What's the good of having their email address, if they are no longer interested in going to your site. I want people to go to my website NOW! I want them to see what I have to offer NOW! And I believe that my offer is compelling enough that they WILL sign up for it. And so should YOURS! 6. Evaluate This last step is easy. Some classified ad sites get a lot of traffic and others don't, and that's a fact. So, if after placing the ad over 3 cycles (6 weeks) you're not getting any results from a certain site(s), drop it and try another. There are literally thousands of free classified sites out there, and I can guarantee you that there are more than 30 of them that do get traffic. It will just take time to find the ones that work best for you and your target audience. In the end, it will be well worth the effort! Here's to your online success!
